Ensure your SAFETY!!!
TRAVELLING1) Inspect and service your vehicle to ensure it is in good operational condition before driving.
2) Never drive if you are not in good physical, mental and emotional state. This includes among others, driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication, uncontrollable emotions, lack of concentration, fatigue, sleepiness and physical impairments.
3) Always observe posted speed limits and NEVER drive too fast in consideration of prevailing adverse light, weather, road and traffic condition.
4) Always wear your seat belt when driving and adhere to all related traffic regulations.
5) Always stay alert, stay ahead of/anticipate the situation, comply to adequate safe vehicle following distances, react promptly and comply to defensive driving techniques.
6) If possible, avoid travel between midnight and dawn.
7) Always be a courteous driver.
8) Always ensure that passengers, especially infants and children are adequately protected in the vehicle (i.e. baby seats, door locked, etc.)
LEAVING YOUR "HOME ALONE"
1) Stop your mail and newspaper delivery or make other collection arrangements while you are away.
2) If not taking your car along on your trip, lock the doors and park it in your driveway.
3) Connect automatic timers to inside and outside lights, and also to a radio or television.
4) Lock all doors and windows properly.
5) Inform the nearest police station/beat base, a neighbour or relative and if available, your alarm service provider, where you can be reached and how long you'll be away.
6) Ensure all tools and other equipment that may be utilized for house "breaking in" are secured inside your home or store.
7) Remember, for burglars, appearances are everything. Discourage them by making your home look occupied.
8) Ensure all cooking gas and other combustible materials are turned off and/or stored safely.
